January Favourites 2015

Hey guys!

So it's monthly favourites time, and I've been eagerly waiting to share with you what I've been absolutely loving this month. January is probably the worst month of the year for me: cold weather, post-christmas blues and now the daunting thought of how it's my last term at uni/in education ever! Plus...I just generally miss hot sunny weather!

I've also been trying to organise myself more with my dissertation deadline approaching, writing a planner and trying to find motivation. I want to get back into the heath and fitness hype that I was on before Christmas too, so I think I need to purchase some new gym kit (loving the look of Boohoo Fit and Missguided Active range) and get back on it. I'm currently trying to go to the gym as much as possible (I've got a spinning class on Wednesday and oh my god I hate spinning), looking into Protein World, Lucy Meck's new book and Pinteresting loads of yummy healthy recipes.
Meanwhile, I've got a number of favourites for this month including some new discoveries! So lets get into it...

Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo- Mega Instant. This was a spur of the moment purchase whilst in Newcastle as my old dry shampoo had run out and my hair was looking a bit crap. I've got to say, this has to be one of the best dry shampoos i've tried. I love the scent firstly, and how light it feels on my hair. It also doesn't leave any grey patches like the Batiste ones sometimes do! It's so good for adding some instant volume and keeps my hair nice and soft.

Rose Hydrate Radiance Day Cream SPF15- Super Facialist by Una Brennan. This was another new discovery this month but has become a solid part of my everyday morning routine. It's a beautiful scented moisturiser that's kind to the skin and also helps protect against sun damage/anti ageing. It makes my skin super soft and radiant and I'm pretty sure it's helped clear my skin up too!

MAC Pure Zen/Shy Girl and MAC Whirl Lipliner. I'm basically so on the Kylie Jenner hype it's unreal and I think I'm pretty lucky to have Whirl lipliner because apparently it's still out of stock?! But it makes my lips look fuller and I just looove it. I'm also into my peachy creamy nudes coming up to spring and I've just purchased my second tube of Shy Girl as I went through the last one far too quickly!

Chanel Soleil Tan Bronze Universel. I've had this now for 2 years and I'm so close to running out I want to cry! This is not cheap to repurchase on a whim (£32) but it's the nicest multi-use product! I personally use a large powder brush to apply it to my face after moisturising and it basically acts as a bronzed base, warming up my currently very pale winter skin. Some people also use this as a bronzer and/or contour, so it really does have so many uses. Because it's so creamy it's also very blendable and wears well on the skin.

Macadamia Deep Repair Hair Masque. Obviously this cold weather does nothing for the condition of our hair, so I've been applying this hair mask once a week, and sometimes I leave it on overnight for maximum results. It seriously makes my hair so soft, shiny and strong and I need it to be in good condition so it'll grow faster! (250ml is currently £15 on Amazon, down from £26)

Seven Seas Radiant You Capsules. Another product that I attribute to my hair growth is definitely these babies. You can get them in Boots and they're not very expensive! I got a month's supply and I found my skin, hair and nails all improved in condition. My mum got them for me originally after talking to her friends at work who are Doctors and they all recommended them- now I've got my housemate on them so hopefully she'll have good hair growth progress too!

Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow Pomade. This has transformed my eyebrow life. Anastasia you are the queen of the brows and I love you. I actually get complimented on my eyebrows now...(this is huge for me ok)
You should see my eyebrows like a year ago. Now I just spend a few minutes in the morning with just an angled brush and some of this stuff (I have the shade 'dark brown'). I do actually think I should have got the 'chocolate' shade instead but it's okay because I just apply it with an extra light hand. I do actually really want to go get my eyebrows 'done' in Harvey Nicks or something but I just can't justify it at the moment financially, and I almost don't need to now I have this in my life!

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes <33333
Aaaaaaah I can't even. This book is the best book I have ever read. Ever. If you like books, or if you don't- you need to read it! I couldn't actually get over it for a few days and I tweeted the author and she tweeted back telling me I had a 'book hangover' !! haha. What a babe. It's basically a love story in my opinion but some people don't think it's a love story...just a story of two people who change each others lives, but it's so inspirational and has actually changed the way I think about some things in life. I'm now reading her newest book called 'The One Plus One' which is also very good.

Thanks for reading! Hope you feel inspired by some of the things I've mentioned!

Let me know what you've been loving this month?
lots of love,

MUM's Make-up bag + Diorshow Eyelash Maximiser

Hey everyone, I was at my mums house yesterday and when I visit I love to check out what new make-up products she has and try them out. My Mum works in the beauty/cosmetic surgery industry and because of this does have an awareness of what products are good yet she hardly wears them at all! She also has so many tips of the trade on anti-ageing, hair growth, weight-loss, etc that she's had talks and presentations on for her job but that's for another blog post.
So here's me, raiding her make-up bag and picking out the best products, enjoy!

Cath Kidson bag, (L-R) Barbara Daly lipstick in 'Innocence', Dior Diorshow Maximiser Lash Pumping Serum, Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara, B Loud Mascara,  Lancome Hypnose eyeshadow, Tweezerman tweezers, Bourjois Queen Attitude Khol Kajal eyeliner, Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil, Rimmel Match Perfection concealer.

The swatches on my hand shown above hopefully demonstrate how black and intense the Bourjois Queen Attitude Khol Kajal (what a mouthful) eyeliner is, it's sooo soft and easy to use too, I'm definitely sneaking this out of her makeup bag! Guerlin do a famous soft khol eyeliner like this but it's about £30- this Bourjois one is an amazing dupe (retailing around £6.99). The eyeliner has won lots of makeup awards and I can see why! The BD lipstick in 'Innocence' is sheer but a perfect 'your lips but better' colour and the Rimme; concealer is quite light but perfect for under the eyes as it's very creamy and illuminating.

The photo above-left shows the my faaavourite eyelash product right now. If you have short and fine eyelashes like me, this makes them thick and long in one application. Basically an eyelash primer/plumping serum, it's pricey but it worked...

Row 1) My short straight eyelashes :(
Row 2) Application of Diorshow Maximiser

3) I then applied the Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara on top and as you can see I have thicker blacker lashes now! The only criticism i'd have of this product is that if over applied, it can mean your lashes clump together slightly more! With the right mascara though, perhaps a lenthening one with a comb brush? I think this could look even better!

4) Just for a comparison, this is my eye with JUST mascara and no Diorshow Maximiser Lash Plumping Serum on. Still lengthened lashes but definitely not as thick as with the Dior and not as long lasting!

DIY 'Chanel' Brush Holder

Finally, in my mums bathroom I came across this DIY brush holder and thought it was so cute. All she'd done was take an old jam jar and tie a Chanel ribbon around the top. She keeps the odd eyeliner and all her eyeshadow brushes in here and I think it's really chic.

Thanks for reading and if you're reading this Mum, sorry for raiding your make-up! (she loves it really)

Lots of love,
