University Room Tour...

Hey everyone!
I thought that today I'd share with you what my University room looks like (now I've added my motivation/Pinterest wall!). I'm really happy with it as I tried to make it as cosy as possible as well as maximising space/storage.
Now it's very 'me', I definitely think of it as my home away from home...

I put up the fairy lights under my skylight as soon as I moved in to make it more girly, and I also bought a few pieces of furniture with me- including the Ikea bedside table, clothing rail, Ikea cube storage, and Ikea Alex tall chest of drawers.

I love this cushion- 'Dream' from the Holly Willoughby collection in BHS. I love white bedlinin and white furniture as I think it makes the room look bigger and it's really chic.

My bedside table features my iPhone and iPad, some very old copies of Vogue and Harpers Bazaar, Lucy Meck's Be Body Beautiful book (quite good by the way! Keeps me motivated to work out and eat healthier) and a copy of the book I'm currently reading.

I also love keeping a moisturiser, hand cream, multi-vitamins and body spray next to my bed, especially as it's a fitting a white/pink theme.

It's a little cluttered in this corner and you can just see the corner of my huge creamy/beige rug. I've got my clothes rail with my most used bags and shoes, my Ikea Alex drawers where I literally have a drawer for everything: the top 3 are stationary/paper/uni related things and the rest are designated to fake tan, haircare, skincare, miscellaneous...

I also have my TV which I used to watch so much in first and second year but now I only put it on in the mornings to watch the news and otherwise tend to watch TV in the lounge with the girls or catch-up on the laptop! Above my TV is a painting that my best friend in America painted me a few years ago- I love it and the pop of colour it brings to any room.

I bought this cube as I was inspired by FleurDeForce's office space where a few of these featured! It's perfect for keeping my books/DVDs (Desperate Housewives is life), post-shower/daily essentials (dry shampoo, argon oil, blowdry spray) and I also keep my Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser set in there. There's also my hair-dye, jewellery box, some bunting and a pair of gloves. On top, I tried to make it pretty and not cluttered- I have some makeup, a scented candle, perfume and a big photo frame full of pictures of me and my friends from sixth-form and first year.

Finally, we have my desk/blogging/working corner! I love the hanging heart I got from a Christmas market, my storage boxes hidden behind my wardrobe along with my Mini travel bag and pilates/workout matt. On my wardrobe I've stuck on a term planner (A3) with a list of all my social commitments on one side, and work deadlines on the other. Below that I have my dissertation timetable (I'm already behind- typical me). Then I've just got a photo from my year 13 prom with my 'dream day' written which is something I wrote as a goal, e.g I know that if I wake up at 9am, have a productive day of work or blogging, go to the gym, then have a healthy dinner followed by chill time (tv/reading) I feel so much better.

Hope this was interesting, if you have any questions feel free to ask!
Please follow me on Bloglovin and I'd also love to check your blogs out.
Lots of love,

Motivation/Pinterest Wall

So I have to give credit here to Corrie (Dizzybrunette3)- I was so inspired by her recent post on her blogging space and her Tumblr Wall. I thought that this was just what I needed to go on the blank space above my desk at Uni, and I even ordered a set for my best friend Sara who's over in Paris as one of her 21st presents as I thought it was so cute and personal.

I ordered 44 petite polaroids from HuggleUp for £10 (usually £12.50 but the first order you place is a bit cheaper). As you can see, I've only used 25 of them but I'm sure I'll make a use of what to do with some of the others. They are quite small but put together in a collage they look so cute, especially with some fairylights around them (I am a fairylights obsessive).

I went with a mixture of motivational quotes and pictures from Pinterest and Tumblr, including photos of Italy (where I'm going this summer), me and my friends, my Mum and Dad, fashion, makeup, and even Taylor Swift's in there. This should definitely help motivate me to do my Uni work especially during the dreaded weeks leading up to dissertation hand in!

As always, thanks for reading and remember to follow me on Bloglovin for more updates!
Would mean the world to me :)

Lots of love,

Valentine's Gift Guide for Him

Valentine's Gift Guide for him

Welcome to the second part of my Valentine's gift guide, where I share a few present ideas for the men in your life...

1. Calvin Klein Boxer Set- I think this is a great gift because they're a bit too expensive for him to necessarily splurge on himself but are stylish, sexy and he'll definitely use them!

2. Portable Phone Charger- If he's a bit of a gadget man he might already have one of these, but if he doesn't- he needs one! They're so useful and at the moment the Anker range are massively reduced on Amazon so check that out :)

3. Cologne/Aftershave- Guys that smell good are just something else, I think they often underestimate the importance of a good fragrance! My personal favourites include any Armani scent (I like Diamonds a lot) and Paco Rabanne 1 Million.

4. Jack Wills - Here I've chosen a nice shirt, and a pair of comfy loungepants. I went with the brand Jack Wills because sometimes guys love a label, and it's currently 25% off for students. Thank me later!

5. Chocolate - Why does chocolate have to be something only girls like? I reckon you should get a box of chocolates like a nice special collection from Hotel Chocolat and share it whilst watching a movie or something. A perfect present you can both benefit from!

6. Nike Roshe Runs- These shoes are really popular at the moment with an increasing amount of guys wearing them. They're sporty/casual and apparently really comfy.

7. Gift Basket- If nothing stands out to you then why not make a gift basket for him, full of his favourite things? You could put a small bottle of wine/prosecco, some of his favourite foods, a DVD, anything! Very personalised and romantic.

Other ideas include a weekend away or buying an experience for him if you have a bigger budget!

Thanks for reading guys, as always!

January Favourites 2015

Hey guys!

So it's monthly favourites time, and I've been eagerly waiting to share with you what I've been absolutely loving this month. January is probably the worst month of the year for me: cold weather, post-christmas blues and now the daunting thought of how it's my last term at uni/in education ever! Plus...I just generally miss hot sunny weather!

I've also been trying to organise myself more with my dissertation deadline approaching, writing a planner and trying to find motivation. I want to get back into the heath and fitness hype that I was on before Christmas too, so I think I need to purchase some new gym kit (loving the look of Boohoo Fit and Missguided Active range) and get back on it. I'm currently trying to go to the gym as much as possible (I've got a spinning class on Wednesday and oh my god I hate spinning), looking into Protein World, Lucy Meck's new book and Pinteresting loads of yummy healthy recipes.
Meanwhile, I've got a number of favourites for this month including some new discoveries! So lets get into it...

Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo- Mega Instant. This was a spur of the moment purchase whilst in Newcastle as my old dry shampoo had run out and my hair was looking a bit crap. I've got to say, this has to be one of the best dry shampoos i've tried. I love the scent firstly, and how light it feels on my hair. It also doesn't leave any grey patches like the Batiste ones sometimes do! It's so good for adding some instant volume and keeps my hair nice and soft.

Rose Hydrate Radiance Day Cream SPF15- Super Facialist by Una Brennan. This was another new discovery this month but has become a solid part of my everyday morning routine. It's a beautiful scented moisturiser that's kind to the skin and also helps protect against sun damage/anti ageing. It makes my skin super soft and radiant and I'm pretty sure it's helped clear my skin up too!

MAC Pure Zen/Shy Girl and MAC Whirl Lipliner. I'm basically so on the Kylie Jenner hype it's unreal and I think I'm pretty lucky to have Whirl lipliner because apparently it's still out of stock?! But it makes my lips look fuller and I just looove it. I'm also into my peachy creamy nudes coming up to spring and I've just purchased my second tube of Shy Girl as I went through the last one far too quickly!

Chanel Soleil Tan Bronze Universel. I've had this now for 2 years and I'm so close to running out I want to cry! This is not cheap to repurchase on a whim (£32) but it's the nicest multi-use product! I personally use a large powder brush to apply it to my face after moisturising and it basically acts as a bronzed base, warming up my currently very pale winter skin. Some people also use this as a bronzer and/or contour, so it really does have so many uses. Because it's so creamy it's also very blendable and wears well on the skin.

Macadamia Deep Repair Hair Masque. Obviously this cold weather does nothing for the condition of our hair, so I've been applying this hair mask once a week, and sometimes I leave it on overnight for maximum results. It seriously makes my hair so soft, shiny and strong and I need it to be in good condition so it'll grow faster! (250ml is currently £15 on Amazon, down from £26)

Seven Seas Radiant You Capsules. Another product that I attribute to my hair growth is definitely these babies. You can get them in Boots and they're not very expensive! I got a month's supply and I found my skin, hair and nails all improved in condition. My mum got them for me originally after talking to her friends at work who are Doctors and they all recommended them- now I've got my housemate on them so hopefully she'll have good hair growth progress too!

Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow Pomade. This has transformed my eyebrow life. Anastasia you are the queen of the brows and I love you. I actually get complimented on my eyebrows now...(this is huge for me ok)
You should see my eyebrows like a year ago. Now I just spend a few minutes in the morning with just an angled brush and some of this stuff (I have the shade 'dark brown'). I do actually think I should have got the 'chocolate' shade instead but it's okay because I just apply it with an extra light hand. I do actually really want to go get my eyebrows 'done' in Harvey Nicks or something but I just can't justify it at the moment financially, and I almost don't need to now I have this in my life!

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes <33333
Aaaaaaah I can't even. This book is the best book I have ever read. Ever. If you like books, or if you don't- you need to read it! I couldn't actually get over it for a few days and I tweeted the author and she tweeted back telling me I had a 'book hangover' !! haha. What a babe. It's basically a love story in my opinion but some people don't think it's a love story...just a story of two people who change each others lives, but it's so inspirational and has actually changed the way I think about some things in life. I'm now reading her newest book called 'The One Plus One' which is also very good.

Thanks for reading! Hope you feel inspired by some of the things I've mentioned!

Let me know what you've been loving this month?
lots of love,

Pinterest Obsessions

A snapshot of my Pinterest...

So, I'm going though a phase of being absolutely addicted to Pinterest. I love it so much for inspiration- food recipes, travel destinations, makeup looks, hair, interior design, quotes. Obsessed.
I've recently just ordered some cute polaroid photos that I hope to put up above my desk when they arrive- full of funny/motivational quotes, style and beauty pictures that I've got off Pinterest and the odd one of me and my loved ones in there too, so I can't wait to show you guys!

At the moment I'm loving healthy, delicious recipes, and quotes that keep me motivated to work out, do work, and stick to my new year's resolutions. I'm loving fairylights, candles, and all things cosy in terms of interior design. I literally can't wait until I have my own home and can decorate it exactly how I like and have the comfiest sofa ever (these sofas in student houses just don't hack it!). Creams and neutral shades and soft fabrics are my current faves. I'm also a little bored of my hair so I'm looking at different pretty styles.
On the fashion side of things, I'm loving black, black, black. Black ripped jeans and long black boots. Also, high-neck jumpers, and grey marl tops and chunky cardigans. Makeup looks I'm loving include fresh dewy skin, winged eyeliner, and tutorials on how to make your eyebrows look unreal. 2015 IS the year every woman wants their eyebrows to look unreal ok (it's not just me).

I'm going to start using Pinterest more for my blog, as a lot of bloggers have boards full of tips, tricks, blog design help etc and even blog post ideas!
If you have Pinterest and want to follow me I'd love it!

Happy New Year everyone!

I literally can't believe how quickly the last year went, and I know we all say that, but for me, 2014 has been such a roller coaster. I've learnt things about myself and other people- friends, family, loved ones. Now we are into 2015 I have to face the stark realisation that I graduate from University this summer and need to get myself a job- and a career. For so long I have been putting these decisions off; claiming I'd simply 'do a masters' like I could just find the funding out of thin air, or that I'd apply for a graduate scheme and one would simply land on my lap. I wanted to stay living up north and independently so much but financially the cost would be unrealistic at the moment. I'd save so much more money just moving back home and getting a full time job. I'd then be paying minimal rent to my Dad and be able to save my money, potentially affording to take a break to travel for a month or so (I've always dreamed of inter-railing or visiting Australia) and then I can begin to apply for graduate schemes confidently in an area of work I know I'd like to go into, with a year's worth of full-time job experience behind me. Plan!

In 2014 I've really had to grow up. I've learnt that people who you're really close to will sometimes drift out of your life, and that's okay. However, some will remain just as close to you even if you've gone to different University's, or even lived in a different country (love you!). I've also learnt (and read/researched) that people are the way they are because of their life experiences, and sometimes we are not aware of what the person standing next to you has gone through in their life, or what has shaped their personality. Something so insignificant on the outside to you may have affected someone to make them maybe slightly attention seeking, or sensitive, super quiet, shy, or loud and obnoxious. We do not need to pick up on negatives and push people down, for life is to short for arguments and we need to celebrate people's differences, not pick on them for being different.
What I've found most difficult this year to handle is the feeling of being misunderstood, and that truly is the worst feeling. I hope that in 2015 I'll learn and more importantly accept, that it's okay for not everyone to understand you or like you, because you can't please everyone all the time. With that in mind, I've got a list of resolutions this year...

1. Stop caring so much about what people think. If they don't know you, and I mean really know you- then they shouldn't affect you so much. If they don't like you, sod 'em. I want to focus on the positives this year and forget about the negativity. I sometimes feel like I am always putting people before myself, and the one time I put myself first on a trip recently, it all ended in tears. I want to be there for my friends and I always will be, but if something isn't making you happy, you shouldn't do it. It's your life and you've only get one. I'm going to put my happiness before worrying so much about what other people think.

2. Try VERY hard to stop annoying habits. I really want to stop playing with my hair and looking for split ends- I do this when I'm stressed, tired, or anxious- and it's slowing down my hair growth (and I would loooove my hair to grow). I started wearing a hat recently around the house at Uni and when I'm writing an essay to help me concentrate more. Some of my friends and housemates are now calling me 'the egg' when I wear it... lol. But, hey it's working!

3. Up my fitness game. I've lost 2 stone since last December, something which I am really proud of and did VERY gradually, although I wrote about my weight loss tips in a previous blog post! I do find it a lot easier to lose weight whilst at Uni though, walking to lectures and back, having a gym on the doorstep and controlling what food is in and not in my cupboards. This Christmas has been great, but I've probably gained almost half a stone back from naughty snacks and lack of exercise, and unfortunately I'm someone that gains weight quite easily! I'm eager to get back on track now and start doing my 8-minute-abs in the evening, going to the gym, and cutting down on chocolate, bread, and snacks. Bikini season will creep up on us and this year for once, I would love to be really happy with my body when I go on holiday, and I'm going on such an exciting trip to Italy which will motivate me! Adding onto this I really want to drink more water and green tea, something that I actually am seeing myself improve on!

4. Smash my dissertation! As a beauty lover, my dissertation naturally turned into something along those lines, and to sum it up briefly, i'm looking at people's attitudes towards cosmetic surgery, and specifically anti-ageing procedures. I'm really lucky that I love my topic and find it extremely interesting, but this 10,000 word project is due at the beginning of March and I do feel quite behind. I want to really focus on it and make myself proud.

5. Stop comparing myself to others. I know so many of us do this and it's all natural human behaviour but I'm going to be kinder to myself and focus on my own realistic targets, as comparing myself to supermodels or some of my genius friends gets me nowhere except feeling a bit low about myself, which must affect my mood and confidence negatively. I am a confident person and I want that to always shine through. I also must remember that whilst I may not have the most money or belongings compared to some of my friends...I by no means have a hard life compared to so many people out there. 'It's all relative' and all that, but I want to stay grounded this year and not be jealous, for I am very, very lucky.

6. Blog more :) I love it and sadly it recently became my last priority. Personal stuff happened too- my Dad got a new girlfriend, Anna, and now we're all moving in together this summer (that's my Dad, brother, Anna, Anna's 2 children, Roger the lodger, oh...and 5 dogs!) It's quite a lot to take in and adapt to a life change like that, as well as trying to keep on top of Uni work, seeing my boyfriend, and helping my best friend from home go through a break up. Blogging is such a good outlet for me and I absolutely love it so I've decided that even if I do some shorter blog posts, even just a paragraph or two long, I'll be a lot happier than no posts at all.

I know that was a little deep, but it's nice to get it written down and shared. Now, for some posts about make-up! See you next time :)
