The Body Shop Haul

I love The Body Shop. Always have done since I was addicted to their Body Butters, Colour Crush lipsticks, and Hemp Hand Cream! I love how their make-up isn't tested on animals and for me the products are a nice bridge between drugstore and high-end.
It's 3 for 2 at the moment in there, so I went a little crazy! I did actually pick up 2 bottles of the Instablur primer as well, but I'm going to do a separate post on that as I didn't get on with it at all (how annoying I bought 2 bottles...)

The four products I've bought and love are: All-In-One Blush in 01 Macaroon, All-In-One BB Cream in 02, Honeycomb Bronzer in 03, and Lightening Touch in 03

Macaroon Blush (01). I first read about this blush on EmTalks' blog where she says it is her favourite blush and used in her everyday makeup routine. I'm so not a blush girl myself, I'm all about bronzer. However, I wanted to try this a lot and I took the plunge and I love it! I now use it every day on the apple of my cheeks and blend it into my bronzer.
The Honeycomb Bronzer (03) was something I originally went to pick up in a search for a replacement of my Benefit Hoola (which I do love but it's expensive and running out!). This bronzer comes in 4 different shades so I had to swatch a few but I decided 03 was the most similar to Hoola and would create the nicest contour look with my skintone. You can see I've used this but brand new it has a full honeycomb pattern to it which is really pretty. It's actually so nice to use as a contour as well as an overall face bronzer, and doesn't apply too much product at once- but not too little either. Very buildable and lasts a good amount of time, plus I love the fact it comes with quite a large mirror and it's over £10 cheaper than Hoola.
The Lightening Touch Touche Lumiere (03) In the shop this is labelled as a 'cult product' so I really wanted to try it. I've been after the YSL Touche Eclait or the Mac Prep+Prime highlighter pen in Light Boost for ages, but thought this could be a cheaper dupe. Adding this on top of a creamy undereye concealer (like Collection's) in a downward triangle shape further rids any bags and illuminates the area leaving you with glowy skin that looks like Kimmy K.
All-In-One BB Cream (02) I genuinely love this, it feels so much lighter and makes my skin look more glowy and fresh than any other BB cream I've tried. It's quite a weird product considering it comes out looking like a white/greyish cream but when you rub it in, the tiny particles in it break down and it colour matches exactly to your skin tone. I thought I'd be the shade 03 but when I tried the tester it came out a bit orangey whereas 02 was more subtle! Love this for good skin days and it's perfect for summer.

Thanks for reading and please subscribe to Bloglovin :) Disappointing products review coming up soon, including Body Shop's Instablur!

SKINCARE REVIEW- Liz Earle Daily Essentials Kit

A few weeks ago now, I decided that I really needed to up my skincare game. For years and years I've been using just make-up wipes at night to remove my make up and sometimes I've also used the skincare bargain which is the L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Micellar Solution which I love.

But as I'm 21 in a few months I decided I wanted some 'grown-up' skincare products. While I am lucky to have normal (rather than oily or dry) skin which doesn't suffer with a lot of break outs, I do think it often looks a bit dull and lifeless, and goes dry throughout the day.
As I've been working full-time recently, when I went to London I decided to splurge on the highly raved about Liz Earle skincare range. I knew I wanted the Cleanse and Polish (at around £13/£14) but I didn't know the lovely saleswoman in the John Lewis Westfield store would convince me that my life wouldn't be the same unless I got the entire set...

This entire collection was £47.25 from John Lewis and in this you get: 2 Muslin Cloths, Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser, Instant Boost Skin Tonic, Skin Repair Moisturiser (suited for your skin type; normal/combination, dry/sensitive, combination/oily) and as a free 'gift' you also receive the Botanical Shine shampoo and conditioner. All 100% natural.

This product is the most well known in the set, often been deemed 'the best' skincare cleanser around. Huge statement. It is very famous though, and I can definitely see why. It contains all natural ingredients and no chemicals (what Liz Earle skincare range bases itself on) so it's very unlikely to irritate even the most sensitive of skins.

It contains eucalyptus essential oil, rosemary, cocoa butter, chamomile etc which are all very kind to the skin and softens it amazingly, as well as soothing any redness and making your skin smell amazing.

The cleanser itself is really creamy and moisturising without feeling greasy. I personally remove my makeup with the Simple Radiance Wipes first to remove the majority of my make up and prolong the use of my cloths. Then, I apply the cleanser to dry skin (which I did find an odd concept at first), then rinse the muslin cloth (a natural exfoliant) in warm water, and 'polish' my skin. This clears out pores and dead skin cells, leaving it soft and more full of life. It definitely feels like I'm giving my skin a treat when I use this!

The next step after you've used the cloth & cleanser, is to apply the Skin Boost Tonic just using a cotton wool pad. I actually love using this first thing in the morning to wake my skin up, as it leaves it so refreshed. This smells like flowers, probably due to the 'rose-scented' thing, but it means it definitely smells of all things natural and fresh. The Aloe Vera in it is also very soothing and helps tone and reduce the appearance of pores without drying skin out- like some other toners do, that often contain alcohol.

Lastly, we have the 'Skin Repair Moisturiser'. This is rich and creamy and I just love it. I don't use this in the morning because I use a lighter moisturiser with an SPF, but it's perfect for overnight as I've read using moisturisers with an SPF in overnight isn't great for your skin.
I also love how it contains Vitimum E as this is anti-aging and adds radiance. I apply this after using the cleanser and tonic, in an upward circular motion to 'plump' up my skin.
I do want to try other skincare products like the Estee Lauder range, but for my first high-end skincare purchase I am impressed and feel so pampered when I use it every night! You're meant to use this in the mornings too but like I said, I just use the tonic when my skins a bit lifeless.

While it hasn't cleared up my skin, it's left it radiant, softer and smelling lovely, and I also think my foundation is looking nicer and more flawless with this due to how healthy my skin is underneath now.

All the infomation can be found at lizearle.com and can be bought here :)

This is definitely the 2039494898th review of this on the internet but I just love it and had to write about it.
Let me know if you swear by any skincare products or if you've tried this!

REVIEW: The Glamour Beauty Edit: Latest In Beauty

Hey everyone! First of all so sorry about the lateness of my blog posts, I've been so busy with my job this past week and worked evenings too so haven't had a real spare moment! I've finished work now though for the rest of summer so regular blogs shall now continue.
I also was trying to get some really good photos for this post but my iPhone doesn't allow that, so again I apologise! Tomorrow I'm actually going to go look at DSLR's with my Dad in the hope I can get one for my 21st in a few months eeek :) Anyway, onto the review...

I was sooo excited when this Latest In Beauty, Glamour Beauty Edit box arrived! I'd placed a cheeky order after reading about this box on various blogs as I couldn't resist.

There are plenty of beauty boxes around and the idea is you pay a certain amount a month (usually between £10-£15) and a box of beauty goodies will arrive full of some high-end products in smaller sizes and lots of samples, etc. Some of them are really hit and miss but that's the chance you take and it is quite exciting not knowing exactly what you'll recieve. You would usually be paying around £10 a month + P+P for a box like Glossybox or Birchbox but I've never actually taken the plunge as financially I couldn't justify it...but this box was different.

Can we literally take a second to appreciate how much is packed in that little box?! The Beauty Director of Glamour Mag, Alessandra Steinherr, went and picked the 9 products she is obsessing over this summer, and I have to say I love basically every single product. The entire contents of this box is worth £86.15 and this costs £16.95 with free P+P. While that may sound steep compared to other boxes, the Illamasqua lipstick in this box retails at £18.50 alone so you've already got a bargain!

Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick Firstly, we have the Illamasqua Lipstick in the shade 'Naked' but in your box you could receive one of seven nude shades. I was  SO excited to receive this as this new collection of lipsticks has been raved about and highly anticipated in the blogasphere. I was very impressed with how creamy and amazingly pigmented this was and I personally was so happy with this colour as a corally/warm toned nude. The photo above-right shows this lipstick to be almost orange but as you can see from the swatch, it's not like that when applied! The guidance with this product is it's best when applied with a brush which is probably due to how pigmented and creamy it is. 5 stars!

Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan BB Skin Perfector Next in the box is the Rimmel 'Instant Tan BB Skin Perfection' in the shade Light Matte. As a wash-off fake tan designed for up to 24 hours of wear as well as a 9 in 1 product, it's claiming a lot! I wasn't as excited about this product as others in the box as I thought 'meh, Rimmel', but it's a lovely moisturising matte colour which actually smells amazing!? Not like biscuits like other fake tans. It also did make my skin look pretty flawless and I love having a more tanned face, as my body always stays more tanned than my face and i'm sure this is the case with most people. All in all I'll be repurchasing this instead of my instant Fake Bake stuff for sure!

You also receive a fake tanning mitt in the box which you can use to apply this or any fake-tan you have. It's pretty standard so didn't feel the need to write it's own mini section on it :)

Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection Ultra Radiance Sun Lotion SPF 30, 100ml This suncream is actually really nice in terms of making your skin really moisturised and radiant. Nothing else more to say about this but it smells lovely and applies nicely, also it's one of my favourite sun protection brands and worth £6.99 so 100ml of this was a nice addition to this summer-themed box.

Crabtree & Evelyn Nail LacquerHope you can't tell I'm trying to hide my shameful nails in these photos! Really need them done soon. Anyway, this nail vanish was a BIT of a disappoint to me as I love red nail polish and in the box you could receive either red or this baby pink shade, however, the brand Crabtree and Evelyn is famous and quite expensive so this will be a nice quality nail vanish and a very pretty summer shade. It also claims to be non-toxic and shock resistant (plus I didn't really need another red in my vanish collection anyway...)

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil  Firstly I'm going to have to say I am very afraid of face oils, I keep thinking I'm going to break out! I have combination skin anyway but this product is meant to be amazing to provide hydration to the skin and apparently won't break you out...(I'm still skeptical). The size of this product is small and cute anyway so would be perfect for travelling and I thought if you had a long flight it could be amazing to save your skin from getting dried out and dull as can happen on planes. This is an example of why I love beauty boxes though- I could end up absolutely adoring this product and it's something I would have never gone out and purchased myself.

Toni & Guy Volume Plumping Whip, 90ml You receive a full sized TonI and Guy hair product in this box which I think is amazing and I was really excited to try this. As you might know, I'm always on the hunt for products which will give my hair volume and look like it's been professionally blow dried, so this product seems perfect! I've only used this once as like i've mentioned in my Hair Growth post, I am trying to restrict all heat on my hair including blow-drying unless I'm going out or it's an occasion. I do really like it though and it's given me shiny hair with some body.

Bourjois Little Cream Blush I thought this blush was really cute, and I'm not really a blusher girl. Having owned only one cream-blush before I don't know why I don't have more because when I tried this I found it left a really subtle pretty colour on my cheeks which blended really easily! I got the shade 3 but you could have received one of three shades, ranging from peachy toned to pink.

Magnifibres Brush-On False Lashes: Alright, so here I am saving my favourite until last! I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw you got the full sized product of this in the box. It's worth £20.00 if you buy it by itself so the fact it's included in this box is amazing. It claims to provide you with the length of false lashes, with manufacturers stating: 'Magnifibres is the perfect solution for those who love long, big, captivating eye lashes but don't like the hassle of false lashes'. All you need to do is apply your first coat of mascara, then apply this which adds fibres to your lashes, and then apply some more mascara. It's actually really good- I'm not blown away, but it does make a difference and giiirl you know I love my lashes to be bigger as I think it instantly makes a face more attractive and feminine.

All in all I think this is an amazing deal and the best beauty box around. I'll definitely be looking out for more of these. Let me know what you think and if you've got this box or are tempted to get it! Get yours from the Latest In Beauty site here

Top Tips- Contouring

Contouring

Hey! So this is part 2 of my skincare hints and tips post, and I'm going to talk contouring and how it's THE best makeup trick in the book. I promise.
As I'm sure you've read from so many blog posts, contouring (often called HAC-ING- Highlighting and Contouring) is THE makeup trick that can transform your face like no other. Kim Kardashian (and probably the entire Klan) famously rock this look, creating killer cheekbones, a thinner, straighter nose, and a smaller forehead. You want to know more don't you. Well I'll tell you how:

Ahhh illusions....

Step 1- Get your base right. You want to apply primer all over your face with your fingertips, then apply a little BB cream that matches your skin tone all over the face with a brush, buffing it into the skin. The Benefit Pore-fessional primer is my fave, as is the oil free primer by Laura Mercier, but for a cheaper alternative the Lumi Magique primer by L'Oreal is also really good at around £9.99! BB Creams I love include the Garnier BB Cream for Oily/Combination skin and I'm hearing Benefit's Big Easy is amazing although I haven't tried it myself!

Step 2- For this look every day, I personally just use a bit of matte bronzer (like Benefit Hoola, or the one out of the Sleek Contour Kit) with a gold-toned highlight and concealer, but for photos, or perhaps a more glam evening look/occasion- you need two foundations. First of all you need to take a really light foundation (about 2 shades lighter than your natural colour) and apply it acorss the top of your cheekbones, under your eyes in a triangle formation (or you could do this with light concealer), in the centre of your forehead and down the bridge of the nose. finish with a dab on the centre of your chin.

Step 3- Take a foundation that is two shades darker than your natural skin tone (I want to invest in a foundation stick like you can get from Bobbi Brown (£28)- will update this post when I can find a drug store dupe!) and apply it under your cheekbones, or just a bit higher if yours are a bit low. Apply it next along the sides of the nose, on the temples of your forehead, and across your jaw line. Next, take a stippling or blending brush and BLEND it all in. It will look a little extreme at first so don't worry, you've got to keep going just to get rid of all harsh lines but take care not to mix the shades.

Step 4- Now you want a shimmery highlight (I'm in love with Benefit's Watts Up) and apply that just under your eyebrows, a little above your cupids bow, along the cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose. This will add more dimension to your face and make you look glowy and youthful.

Step 5- Finish this look with a big fluffy brush and some translucent powder, this is to set the look and make you look more flawless, further reducing any obvious lines. Add a little rose coloured blush to the apples of the cheeks if you want to be like Kimmy K and add lots of mascara, smoky eyeshadow and some nude lipgloss. Tadaaa!

If that's not face transforming, I don't know what else is.
Another top tip here if is you can't be bothered with the fuss of contouring, just add a light heavy duty undereye concealer (I love Collection's stick concealer, and also Seventeens Phwoarr Paint- both really cheap and amazing). Apply it in a bit of a triangle shape, rather than just dotting underneath your eye, and pat it in first with your fingers to warm it up a little then make sure it reaches everywhere by applying the rest in with a brush. All you need to do then is swipe bronzer along each cheek bone and around your face and it only takes you 2 minutes! Applying bronzer to your jawline is very flattering if you want to hide a bit of a double chin and create a more striking jawline.

Really hope this helped you if you haven't tried contouring before! Let me know how you get on :)

Top Tips- Perfect Looking Skin: Part 1

Hello everyone! Sorry about the delay- been so busy with deadlines this week I've had literally no time to sit down and blog, but now it's the Easter holidays (yaaay)
Here's a post I've decided to write on the top-tips I've discovered myself and read from makeup artist books etc all around creating perfect looking skin, we all want to achieve that flawless finish don't we?

1) Remove your makeup at night well, and in winter use more moisturing products, or the 'Simple' brightening range to cheer up dull skin.

2) Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise. Seriously, whether your skin is oily or dry moisturising really is the key to achieving a flawless finish. You can get face moisturisers for sensitive skin and there's so many oil free ones which won't cause you to break out. Moisturising the skin first thing in the morning not only helps to prep and prime it but it gives it a bit of brightness to your skin after you've slept. Ones with SPF's in are also great for avoiding premature wrinkles but don't wear SPF if you're planning to have a photoshoot! (you'll get a white face) I love the Simple moisturisers with a hint of gradual tan, or the Bare Minerals skincare range.

3) Primer is your best friend! For years I didn't wear a primer and now I do I notice such an improvement in my skin, and the length of time my foundation actually stays on. A good primer will slightly colour correct your skin and disguise pores while creating a smooth surface. I've experiemtned with a few primers now (the GOSH one broke me out horrendously, beware!) but have settled on the Benefit Porefessional now, and on days when my skin needs a little pick me up love the brightening primer by Bare Minerals.

4) Wear the best foundation for your skin type- Harpers Bazaar explains in greater detail here. But basically BB cream is an amazing and very popular product at the moment. Any skin type suits it and it can be build-able. It's my favourite choice as we head into spring.

5) Match your foundation exactly with your skin tone! Match this with your neck and most importantly your chest. Nothing is worse than any sort of foundation line and if you want to look flawless then you want to have a consistent skin tone. If your face is a bit paler because you like to fake tan (like me) then it's worth investing in a product like the Chanel Sol De Bronze, (Bourjois do a great dupe of this) and apply it to your face as a primer- which adds a bit of a bronzed base to your foundation, perfect for summer. To match your chest it can be worth getting a large fluffy brush and sweeping the brush along the collar bone with bronzer and just below that with loose powder.

Brushes

6) As you can see there are SO many different types of face makeup brushes, and this can be confusing. Apply foundation with a good quality brush, the real techniques are my absolute faves as they are good quality and inexpensive, same goes to the Body Shop ones! To be honest, on a weekly basis I switch it up, sometimes using my foundation brush and others using a stippling brush or a buffing brush for applying foundation and think that what you use is a matter of personal preference. However, use a brush even when applying concealer as the tapered bristles can get into the crevices of your skin and blemishes better than your fingers can.

7) When you apply your foundation, REALLY press it into the skin with your brush. Apply the desired amount but be sure to work it into the skin to really well to get the perfect looking finish.

8) Powder. Apply everything in place with a translucent powder- Mineral Vale from Bare Minerals is one of the best around, same goes for ones by Laura Mercier, but there's loads out there. Powder keeps your makeup on for longer and also slightly mattifies, meaning you look a bit more airbrushed. Be careful when using a cheap pressed powder as they do give the tendency to make you look cakey, the opposite of what we're trying to achieve.

Remember- we want to minimise pores- that's primer, the correct foundation (consistency and colour), and translucent loose powder! The photo above on the right is just some examples of these products.

See you soon for part 2, where I'll talk contouring and the best foundations known for creating a glowy, airbrushed and flawless finish!
